Steven Naismith: "Lack of concentration" to blame for Leicester City draw

Everton midfielder Steven Naismith admits that his side did not play "anywhere near" what they are capable of in the 2-2 draw against Leicester City at Goodison Park.

Steven Naismith has admitted that Everton are struggling to find the right balance between their domestic and European commitments this season.

Having been held to a 2-2 draw by Leicester City at Goodison Park this afternoon, the Toffees remain down in 12th place in the Premier League table.

Their form in the Europa League has been somewhat contrasting, though, with their impressive 4-1 victory over Young Boys in midweek putting them on course for a place in the last 16 of the competition.

Everton showed signs of a European hangover as they slumped their way to a draw against the division's bottom-placed team, and Naismith admits that his side simply need to improve if they are to climb up the league table.

"In the first half we didn't play anywhere near what we're capable of," he told Sky Sports News. "We were very slow in our passing and didn't cause any problems to Leicester.

"In the second half the game opened up, but a lack of concentration cost us and it is not good enough from us.

"When you work so hard to get into Europe, the Europa League is the next level and we need to get used to that, but it is something we have not equipped ourselves well enough with."

Next up for Everton is the return leg of their round-of-32 meeting against Young Boys on Thursday night.
