Koeman rejects rumours of future Barca switch

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has played down suggestions that his long-term aim is to secure the managerial position at Barcelona.

Koeman won five La Liga crowns and the European Cup with Barcelona during his playing career and he has frequently been linked with a switch to Camp Nou.

However, the Dutchman has said that he is only focused on his current role at Goodison Park, which he took after leaving Southampton in the summer.

The 53-year-old told the Daily Mail: "No, no, no, no. No. I don't think so. No. One time, when I went to Valencia. They always speak about Koeman and Barcelona. Everyone knows I have a relationship with Barcelona. Everyone says, 'One day Koeman will be the coach in Barcelona'.

"I had a little bit in my mind that when I went to Valencia (in November 2007), it was maybe a good step to do the next step to Barcelona.

"But now I'm more experienced. You cannot plan what is going to happen. You cannot plan your life. In life everything is possible. In football everything is possible."

Koeman has won six of his first 13 games as manager of the Toffees.
