Darron Gibson nearing Everton return

Everton boss Roberto Martinez reveals that midfielder Darron Gibson is close to making his comeback from injury.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that midfielder Darron Gibson is nearing a return from injury.

The Irishman has not featured for the Toffees so far this season due to a knee problem.

"Darron Gibson is progressing really well and he won't be too far away," Martinez told the club's official website. "We need to be careful that we don't push him too early."

Everton start their Capital One Cup campaign on Wednesday when they host Stevenage at Goodison Park.
