Landon Donovan says farewell to Everton fans

Landon Donovan has thanked Everton's fans after his loan spell from Los Angeles Galaxy came to an end.

The midfielder moved to Goodison Park on a short-term deal for the second time in his career in January.

Despite impressing with his performances on the pitch, the American missed out on Everton's FA Cup win over Blackpool on Saturday with flu.

"Emotional day for me. Devastated I couldn't play, ecstatic we won, sad to leave EFC," he tweeted.

"Thank you for the memories I will never forget."

Everton will be in the hat for the quarter-final draw tomorrow.
