Leighton Baines impressed by attitude of Bryan Oviedo

Leighton Baines praises the attitude shown by Bryan Oviedo since he suffered a broken leg in January.

Leighton Baines has praised Everton teammate Bryan Oviedo for the attitude he has shown since breaking his leg in January.

Despite reports suggesting that Oviedo would return in time to play for Costa Rica at this summer's World Cup, he confirmed earlier this week that his battle to be fit for the tournament was unsuccessful.

Baines has been impressed by the 24-year-old's dedication during his time out of action, and he is certain that he will have a big part to play for the Toffees next season.

"Everyone is disappointed for Bryan because he's a great lad and he's not quite going to make it," the England defender told reporters.

"It's not for the want of trying though that's for sure. The strength of will and courage he's shown in striving to get back in time has been top class.

"The priority now will be for him to get ready for next season because he'll be needed. We'll need everyone for what's going to be a big season for us."

Oviedo joined Everton from Copenhagen in August 2012.
