Everton defender Leighton Baines has described his side's 2-1 win at Newcastle United on Wednesday night as a "massive" victory.

The Toffees went behind inside 65 seconds at St James' Park but Baines got them level with a thunderous free kick before Victor Anichebe's goal completed the turnaround.

"It was a massive three points," the left-back told Sky Sports News.

"We were off the back of a defeat and Newcastle are fighting at the moment so we knew it would be tough. They set off at a hard pace but we fought back."

The win has moved Everton up to fifth place in the Premier League table.
