Sam Allardyce: 'Everton can't focus on individuals'

Everton boss Sam Allardyce says that his side cannot afford to focus on specific Liverpool players during Sunday's Merseyside derby.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has suggested that he will use no specific plans to try to nullify the threat offered by certain Liverpool players.

On Sunday, Everton take on their Merseyside rivals at a time when Jurgen Klopp's side have netted 32 goals in their last nine matches in all competitions.

Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah have received the most praise from recent games, but Allardyce has insisted that he will not look to focus on the ability of individual players.

The 63-year-old told reporters: "You can't say 'if we block these two players off, we will stop Liverpool'. They are more than that at the moment, it's four or five for me.

"That's the hard bit for us, that interchange of movement, the runs they make and their skill on the ball. They don't need to rely on one or two people to score, they have goals all around.

"If we do cope with that, what are we going to do when we get the ball? If we are not going to be clinical and show ability on the ball, we will struggle to get out of our own half."

Allardyce has claimed that Everton will need to be "clinical" if they are to achieve a result at Anfield.
