Kevin Mirallas: 'Let's win Europa League'

Everton forward Kevin Mirallas targets winning the Europa League this season to end a 20-year wait for silverware at Goodison Park.

Everton forward Kevin Mirallas has called on the squad to end the club's 20-year wait for a trophy by winning the Europa League this season.

The Toffees last lifted silverware when they beat Manchester United in 1995's FA Cup final, and ahead of their meeting with Young Boys of Switzerland in the last 32 of the Europe's secondary competition, Mirallas has talked up what a trophy win would mean this term.

The versatile Belgium international told the Liverpool Echo: "The Europa League gives us a lot of possibilities. We have shown this season in Europe that we are a very good team. We played very well in the group and we got a good draw in the last 32.

"I know the first game [with Young Boys] is difficult because the pitch is a little strange, but I think that this team needs to win a trophy.

"I have been here for three years now, and to not have won a trophy in that time is difficult for me. Hopefully we can fix that this season."

Mirallas was a goal-scoring substitute for the Toffees as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by West Ham United on penalties on Tuesday.
