Frank Lampard to receive England honour on Friday

Lampard to receive Friday England honour

Frank Lampard will reportedly captain England against Chile on a special night for the midfield veteran, who will be honoured for reaching 100 caps with a ceremony before kickoff.

The Chelsea midfielder reached a century of appearances for the Three Lions during last month's World Cup decider against Ukraine, but both Lampard and England boss Roy Hodgson wanted the focus to remain on winning a crunch qualifier.

With their place in next summer's finals secured Lampard will lead England out against Chile at Wembley on Friday night, before receiving a commemorative cap from the Football Association.

Lampard's two daughters Isla and Luna will also be mascots for the friendly, according to The Mirror.

The 35-year-old is thought to be in line for the captain's armband against Chile with fitness concerns surrounding skipper Steven Gerrard, who is an injury doubt for the double-header which finishes against Germany next Tuesday.
