England draw Scotland in World Cup qualifying

England have been drawn with Scotland in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

The British rivals will battle it out in Group F alongside Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania and Malta.

Wales and Republic of Ireland have also been drawn together, while Northern Ireland must contest with world champions Germany.

Spain and Italy have been pitted together in Group G, and Netherlands will meet France in Group A.

The winners of each group will automatically qualify for the tournament. The eight best runners-up will go into a playoff, with four of those teams earning qualification.

Qualifying for the 2018 World Cup is due to get underway in September.

Group B: Portugal, Switzerland, Hungary, Faroe Islands, Latvia, Andorra

Group C: Germany, Czech Republic, Northern Ireland, Norway, Azerbaijan, San Marino

Group D: Wales, Austria, Serbia, Republic of Ireland, Moldova, Georgia

Group E: Romania, Denmark, Poland, Montenegro, Armenia, Kazakhstan
