Marvin Sordell gave Stuart Pearce's side the lead on 39 minutes when he got on the end of Jordan Henderson's cross.

Liverpool defender Martin Kelly doubled the hosts' lead just before the hour mark after he was allowed to sprint past a couple of opposition players before he drilled the ball home.

Craig Dawson made it 3-0 with five minutes to play when he hit home from a corner before substitute Gary Gardner curled a free kick into the net.

Gardner bagged his second a minute later when he fired in from 20 yards.
