England boss Roy Hodgson: 'A very good victory in the end'

England manager Roy Hodgson praises his team's second-half display against Slovenia and insists that 3-1 was a fair result in their Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley.

England manager Roy Hodgson has insisted that his side's 3-1 victory over Slovenia in the Euro 2016 qualifiers was a good result.

The Three Lions were forced to come from a goal behind to grind out the win at Wembley, but Hodgson believes that his players raised their game in the second half.

"It was not going to be easy. They were disciplined and well organised," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"We were probing but weren't getting beyond them. When we went a goal down it was very important to break back and in the end it turned out to be a very good victory.

"We kept our shape well, even when we weren't playing our best football. We won it back quickly and sustained attacks. We got much better in the second half and three goals were more than enough to win the game. In the group we are in a good position."

The result leaves England at the top of Group E with four wins out of four.
