Sepp Blatter calls for goal-line technology following Ukraine's disallowed goal

Blatter: 'Goal-line tech a necessity'

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has urged the implementation of goal-line technology after Ukraine were disallowed a goal against England last night.

The 76-year-old has responded following the Euro 2012 co-host's slice of misfortune when Three Lions defender John Terry hoofed out a Ukraine shot from the goal, despite the ball already crossing the line during England's 1-0 victory.

Blatter tweeted: "After last night's match ‪goal-line technology is no longer an alternative but a necessity."

A number of potential systems are currently being tested but UEFA president Michel Platini remains firm on his stance that goal-line technology should not be introduced.
