Frankfurt edge past Viktoria

Eintracht Frankfurt have defeated BFC Viktoria 1889 2-0 at the Friedrich-Ebert Stadion to advance to the second round of the DFB-Pokal.

The visitors were ahead with just nine minutes on the clock courtesy of Haris Seferovic's goal against the fourth-tier club.

Alex Meier came close to doubling the lead for Frankfurt with a little under 20 minutes remaining, but he was unable to find a way through.

The attacking midfielder had another chance to seal the victory for the Bundesliga outfit on 81 minutes, though yet again he failed to do so.

The missed opportunities did not matter, however, as Meier finally added a second in injury time to secure the win for his Bundesliga side.
