Cowdenbeath secure Championship status with convincing win over Dunfermline

Cowdenbeath secured their Scottish Championship status with a 3-0 win at Dunfermline Athletic this afternoon, winning the playoff final 4-1 on aggregate.

After the first leg ended 1-1 on Wednesday, Cowdenbeath came through today thanks to goals from Kane Hemmings, Thomas O'Brien and Greg Stewart.

Hemmings scored the opener inside the first minute by tucking home O'Brien's centre.

O'Brien then put the visitors two in front midway through the second half by volleying home from close range.

Stewart sealed the win 15 minutes from time, cutting in from the left before firing into the net.

Cowdenbeath, who finished second-bottom in the Championship, keep their status in the second tier while Dunfermline have to stay in League One after ending the season second.
