Ten-man Dundee United hold Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Ten-man Dundee United hold Inverness CT

Inverness Caledonian Thistle extended their unbeaten run in the Scottish Premiership to nine games but were pegged back by 10-man Dundee United and forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at Tannadice Park this evening.

In a chaotic opening 10 minutes, David Raven picked up a booking after just 13 seconds, before Dundee United's Michal Szromnik was sent off for bringing down Marley Watkins when the Inverness striker was through on goal.

Greg Tansey stepped up and made no mistake with the spot kick, sending Szromnik's replacement Radoslaw Cierzniak the wrong way and handing his side the lead.

Despite their man advantage, John Hughes's side struggled to carve out any further openings as referee Calum Murray took centre stage, continuing to dish out the cards in a scrappy first half.

Ryan McGowan levelled the game midway through the second half with his first goal for the club, but still the cards continued to flow from Murray's pocket.

Nadir Ciftci spurned a great chance to put his side ahead when he was sent through on goal only to be denied by Ryan Esson.

McGowan too saw a chance to win the game pass him by, before Gary Warren was given his marching orders in the final minute as the game ended as frantically as it began.
