Doncaster Rovers target Robert Pires

Championship side Doncaster Rovers are ready to offer French midfielder Robert Pires the chance to extend his career in England, according to The People.

The 38-year-old former Arsenal attacker is currently a free agent after he was released by Aston Villa during the summer.

He has been linked with moves to Russia and Qatar in recent weeks, but Rovers manager Dean Saunders is hopeful of completing a short-term deal with the player.

Saunders has recently added El Hadji Diouf to his squad.
