Half-Time Report: Kasper Schmeichel gifts Doncaster Rovers advantage

Schmeichel howler gifts Doncaster advantage

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has gifted Doncaster Rovers a 1-0 half-time lead at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The Dane was culpable for the game's only goal thus far, as Mark Duffy's corner was parried into the goal by the 26-year-old keeper on 17 minutes.

The visitors responded well, though, and came close to drawing level. Anthony Knockaert fired a right-footed effort from the edge of the area, only for goalkeeper Ross Turnbull to parry the shot to safety.

Schmeichel atoned for his earlier error midway through opening half first by denying Chris Brown's effort from the edge of the area and then by keeping out Dean Furman's long-range strike.

Nigel Pearson's men went within millimetres of restoring parity on the stroke of half time, but Knockaert's fine effort shaved the edge of the post.
