Derby County: 'Nigel Clough staying put'

Derby: 'Clough staying put'

Derby County have become the latest club to rule their manager out of the running for the vacant post at Nottingham Forest.

Nigel Clough has been mooted as a potential replacement for Steve McClaren, who resigned from his role as Forest manager on Sunday evening.

However, Derby chief executive Tom Glick has insisted that the club want Clough to remain at Pride Park for the "long term" future.

"We are convinced Nigel is the guy for the long term," said Glick.

"We have been consistent in our commitment to Nigel that he and his coaching staff are the right guys for our football club and nothing has changed."

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony also confirmed earlier today that Darren Ferguson would not be taking over at the City Ground.
