Palace begin contract talks with Gayle?

Premier League side Crystal Palace have begun negotiations with striker Dwight Gayle over a new contract at Selhurst Park, according to reports.

The 25-year-old joined Palace from Peterborough United two years ago and has scored 12 league goals for the Eagles.

He was linked with a move away from the club over the summer, but remained with Alan Pardew's side and started in Sunday's 1-0 win over Watford.

Palace are now keen to keep Gayle and have opened talks with the player over a new deal, The Guardian reports. His current deal runs until 2017, but the club apparently want to extend this to 2019.

Gayle began his career with Arsenal, but spent time with non-League side Stansted after his release from the Emirates.

He then impressed during a loan spell with the Posh, earning a permanent move to London Road in 2013.
