Johnson leaves Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have released experienced striker Andrew Johnson following the end of his short-term contract.

The 33-year-old returned to Selhurst Park in September, but he made just one appearance for the Eagles during his second spell at the club.

Johnson scored 84 goals in 160 games for Palace between 2002 and 2006 before going on to play for Everton, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers.

"It was great to be back at Palace, if only for a short time, and I wish everyone at the club and those great supporters every success for the rest of the season," the former England forward told Palace's official website.

Johnson made a total of eight appearances for England between 2005 and 2007.
