Report: Pardew signs Palace contract

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is believed to have put pen to paper on a contract to become the new Crystal Palace manager.

After sacking Neil Warnock last month, Palace were given permission to speak to their former midfielder after agreeing a reported £2m compensation package.

Pardew was in the stands to watch the Eagles draw 0-0 at Aston Villa on New Year's Day, relinquishing charge of the Magpies to number two John Carver, and negotiations with co-chairman Steve Parish have since continued.

While there has been no confirmation from Palace, BBC Sport claims that the 53-year-old has committed himself to the Selhurst Park job and signed a contract on Friday evening.

Newcastle are currently 10th in the Premier League table, eight places and 10 points above Palace.
