Jason Puncheon charged by Football Association over Twitter comments

Puncheon charged by FA

Crystal Palace winger Jason Puncheon has been charged by the Football Association in relation to recent comments that he made on Twitter about Neil Warnock.

The 27-year-old deleted a series of tweets last month in response to criticism from Warnock for missing a penalty against Tottenham Hotspur.

Warnock, who now works as a pundit for BT Sport, had revealed at the time that he was considering legal action.

"It is alleged that in posting these comments, Puncheon failed to act in the best interests of the game, and/or acted in a manner which was improper, and/or used abusive and/or insulting words in contravention of FA Rule E3[1]," read a statement on the FA's official website.

Puncheon has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge.
