Tony Pulis: 'Marouane Chamakh is blossoming under me'

Tony Pulis hails Marouane Chamakh and claims that the striker is "blossoming" under his guidance at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has praised the resurgence of Marouane Chamakh this season, claiming that the striker has "blossomed" under his guidance.

The former Arsenal forward is enjoying a new lease of life at Selhurst Park as of late, having scored in each of the club's three previous fixtures, including the winner in the 1-0 victory against West Ham United.

The Morocco international had only hit eight Premier League goals in his three-year stint at the Emirates Stadium and Pulis claims that the 29-year-old is coming into his own under his management.

He told The Sun: "We have played Marouane in a different role and he has blossomed.

"We have got a player that we can play through. If you give him the ball, he can make things happen and he can certainly take you up the pitch. He is important to us and the rest of the lads understand that.

"They are getting used to the fact that we have to try and play through him as much as we can to make us a team that can create chances. He has enjoyed it and his performances over the last few games have been quite outstanding."

Palace host Newcastle United in South London on Saturday.
