Alan Pardew angry at penalty decision as Manchester United beat Crystal Palace

Michael Oliver did not have a good enough view to give Manchester United a penalty, says Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew after their 2-1 defeat at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has criticised referee Michael Oliver for awarding Manchester United a penalty in their defeat at Selhurst Park.

Scott Dann was penalised for handball in the first half, and Pardew is adamant that Oliver did not have a good enough view of the incident.

He told BBC Sport: "I think the referee's in bad position to say it warrants a penalty - and I've just told him that. The ball came in, there was no real threat and Scott Dann leans in and is turning away.

"I think it hits the shoulder and his chest. From his angle the referee couldn't tell - it was impossible. I think it is a really tough call."

United went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to a second-half winner from Marouane Fellaini.
