Crystal Palace's Alan Pardew offers gratitude to outgoing "super" Mile Jedinak

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew pays tribute to "super" Mile Jedinak, who has left the club to join Aston Villa.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has expressed gratitude towards Mile Jedinak, who has left the club to join Aston Villa.

The newly-demoted Championship club announced the arrival of Jedinak on a three-year deal today.

The Australian spent five years at Selhurst Park, and in that time made 179 appearances in all competitions and scored 10 goals.

Jedinak was appointed captain in 2012, but had the armband taken off him this summer and given to Scott Dann.

After confirming the midfielder's departure, Pardew told Palace's official website: "Mile has been an influential figure at Palace since joining five years ago. He has been a super player and instrumental in our progress as a club. We thank him for his commitment in a Palace shirt and wish him the best of luck in his next chapter at Aston Villa."

Jedinak is the club's all-time highest international goalscorer with 10 strikes.
