Alan Pardew believes that his Crystal Palace side displayed the correct attitude during their 4-0 win at Conference Premier side Dover Athletic in the FA Cup third round.
A double from Scott Dann and second-half strikes from Dwight Gayle and Kevin Doyle ensured that Palace avoided a shock defeat in Pardew's first game in charge, and the former Newcastle United boss has been impressed with the application of his players since his arrival at Selhurst Park.
The 53-year-old told BBC Sport: "We applied ourselves well today, we ticked all the attitude boxes you want to tick.
"We needed to show a bit of exuberance and a bit of class and the players used that instruction really well today. We never looked in trouble really and at any level that is very difficult to achieve.
"We have really good honest players, their attitude, even before I arrived, was spot on, we just need to open our wings a bit and show we can play."
Palace's next fixture will see them host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
