Crewe Alexandra hopeful over Chris Atkinson injury

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has revealed that Chris Atkinson's knee injury is unlikely to keep the midfielder out for long.

The 22-year-old suffered ligament damage in the warm-up before Saturday's 5-0 thrashing by MK Dons.

However, Davis is hopeful that the youngster will be back in action for Crewe sooner rather than later.

"He tweaked his medial ligament in his knee but we are hopeful that it is not too long," he told the club's official website. "He is okay and we don't think he will out too long."

Crewe continue their League One campaign on Saturday when they make the trip to Colchester United.
