Copenhagen will play their first home game of the Danish Superliga season when they welcome Vejle to the Parken Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts got the better of Viborg in their league opener, while the visitors rescued a point from their home meeting with Randers.

Copenhagen have entered the new season as the reigning Danish champions after they clinched their 16th Superliga title last term.

Jacob Neestrup’s side collected 63 points from 32 matches to finish just a point clear of second-placed Midtjylland.

They kicked off their title defence with an exciting 3-2 win over Viborg, as Elias Achouri and Mohamed Elyounoussi saw their efforts cancelled out before Magnus Mattsson scored a 78th-minute winner to clinch all three points.

Mattsson played another decisive role in Tuesday’s Champions League tie against Drita, netting a second-half brace to seal a 2-0 victory in the first leg of the second round qualifying tie.

Copenhagen have gone 11 competitive matches without defeat, and they will fancy their chances of extending that run with a victory after winning their last seven league games against Velje.

The visitors are competing in the top flight for a fourth consecutive campaign after narrowly avoiding relegation last term.

Vejle finished just a point clear of the bottom two with a record of seven victories, seven draws and 18 defeats in 32 matches.

The Reds have entered the 2025-26 campaign with a new manager but a familiar face, appointing Ivan Prelec for his second spell after previously leaving the club in 2024.

Prelec began his second stint with a 1-1 home draw against Randers, which saw Abdoulaye Camara net a 97th-minute equaliser to salvage a point.

Vejle will head on their travels with hopes of claiming their first point against Copenhagen since September 2020, while they may even have aspirations of recording their first top-flight victory since April 2000.

Team News

The hosts are unable to call upon the injured trio of Alex Runarsson, Junnosuke Suzuki and Oliver Hojer, while Victor Froholdt recently completed a move to Portuguese giants Porto.

Mattsson is pushing for his first start of the season after coming off the bench to score three goals across the last two matches.

Summer signing Youssoufa Moukoko is pushing for a recall, with the striker looking to open his account for the record Danish champions.

As for the visitors, they are without the services of Lasse Flo, Lundrim Hetemi, Jelle Duin and Anders Jacobsen due to injury.

Bismark Edjeodji is a fitness concern after being forced off in the 54th minute of Vejle's opening league game against Randers.

If Edjeodji is unable to feature, a space could open up for former Stuttgart forward Wahid Faghir to make his first start for the club.
