Peterborough United lead Chesterfield 2-0 at the interval of the Football League Trophy final at Wembley.

Chesterfield might have had a penalty after four minutes when Shaun Brisley appeared to come through the back of Eoin Doyle inside the box, but referee Andy D'Urso was not interested.

The Posh took the lead just two minutes later, however, when Josh McQuoid tucked home from close range after Tommy Lee had spilled a header from Michael Bostwick.

Darren Ferguson's side had another half-chance after 22 minutes when Tommy Rowe delivered a low cross towards Joe Newell at the front post, but Lee was on hand to make a smart save.

Chesterfield's best chance of the first period arrived on 32 minutes when Sam Morsy found some space on the edge of the box, but his effort was wide of the post.

Peterborough had their second five minutes before the interval, however, when Brisley produced a towering header from a corner.
