Andre Villas-Boas denies Barcelona can buy back midfielder Oriol Romeu

Andre Villas-Boas dismisses rumours that Barcelona can buy back defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu at any point as part of the deal which saw the youngster move to West London.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has denied there is an agreement in place with Barcelona where the Catalan club can buy back Oriol Romeu should they wish to.

Oriol Romeu moved to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona in the summer and rumours had been circulating that the European champions could choose to buy the midfielder back at any point.

Villas-Boas has moved quickly to clarify the stories surrounding the 20-year-old Spanish Under-21 International.

"The buy-back option states that Barcelona can only buy back if Chelsea are willing to sell," Villas-Boas told the club's website.

Romeu has enjoyed a recent run of form in the Chelsea side and will be hoping to be slected on Monday night as his side host league leaders Manchester City.
