Schalke 04 'interested in signing Fernando Torres'

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is a target for Schalke 04 manager Roberto Di Matteo, a report claims.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is a reported January transfer target for Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04.

The 30-year-old Spain international is currently on loan at AC Milan, in a deal which could potentially see him remain at the San Siro until his Blues contract expires in 2016.

However, a report in German publication Bild claims that Roberto Di Matteo could make a surprise move for former player Torres, who helped the West London side lift the Champions League trophy in 2012.

Torres, who has scored one goal in five appearances at Milan, recently revealed that Jose Mourinho wanted him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
