Chelsea transfer news: Blues 'offer' Raheem Sterling to Serie A giants as club seeks permanent exit

New exit route? Chelsea 'offer' Sterling to former manager

Chelsea have reportedly offered Napoli the chance to sign Raheem Sterling this summer.

Sterling spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Chelsea's London rivals Arsenal, where he was restricted to 13 starts in 28 competitive appearances.

Arsenal decided against pursuing a permanent deal after Sterling mustered just one goal and five assists during a difficult loan spell.

The 30-year-old is now back at Stamford Bridge, but he is expected to depart before the window shuts, having been deemed surplus to requirements by Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea offer Sterling to Napoli

Bayer Leverkusen are among Sterling's potential suitors with the German club weighing up whether to step up their interest.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Serie A champions Napoli have been presented with the chance to sign Sterling.

Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen to recruit another winger despite already signing Noa Lang from PSV Eindhoven.

Napoli are said to be 'assessing their options', with Sterling just one of a number of targets being considered.

The Italian giants are also looking at Nottingham Forest-linked Dan Ndoye and Real Sociedad star Take Kubo.

How much will Chelsea demand for Sterling?

Chelsea are keen to offload Sterling in a permanent deal, rather than consider another loan departure.

It has been reported that the Blues will demand £20m to sell the former Manchester City winger before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

Sterling still has two years left to run on his contract, but his potential suitors will be aware of Chelsea's desperation to sell this summer.

As a result, his admirers will surely look to negotiate a fee below the £20m mark, especially as there is considerable doubt as to whether the player can rediscover his best form.
