Mancini wants Sturridge back

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is keen for Daniel Sturridge to return to the Etihad Stadium.

The 22-year-old forward joined Chelsea in 2009 for an initial compensation fee of £3.5m.

He has since established himself as one of the most important players at Stamford Bridge and the Italian now wants him back at City, according to the Daily Star.

This season, Sturridge has scored 11 goals in 29 appearances for the Blues and made his international debut in England's 1-0 win over Sweden in November.

The Citizens are entitled to 15 percent of the transfer fee from Sturridge's next move but, as Chelsea are likely to demand around £20m, Roman Abramovich is sure to make a tidy profit on the player should any deal occur.

Mark Hughes was in charge at City when Sturridge left the club.
