Brazilian centre-back David Luiz pens a fresh five-year contract with European champions Chelsea.

David Luiz has committed his future to Chelsea by signing a new five-year contract with the club.

The Brazilian international's time at Stamford Bridge had been called into question recently following speculation that both Manchester City and Barcelona were keen on his services.

However, the 25-year-old has now removed any doubts regarding his next move.

"I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea," the centre-back told the club's official website.

"It is a great club and I look forward to winning more trophies here. I want to play for a long time at the top level - which is what playing for Chelsea means.

"I love everything about the club and especially the fans, who have made me very welcome and given me great support."

Luiz signed for the Blues from Benfica in January 2011.
