Lampard: 'Chelsea a good move for Crouch'

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has said that a potential move to the Blues for Stoke City striker Peter Crouch would be a "great" one for the 36-year-old.

Crouch has been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge this month as Chelsea boss Antonio Conte looks to provide support for the misfiring Alvaro Morata, who has not scored since the 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Boxing Day.

Lampard, who hailed Crouch's attitude during his career, told talkSPORT that the Englishman would be deserving of a move to West London.

"I think [that Crouch] would be a short-term or Plan-B sort of signing, I don't think we're looking at [him] in the long-term. It'll be interesting to see whether Chelsea do get Crouchy – I love Crouchy, he's a great lad and what a move for him that would be," he said.

"He's a had a brilliant career, he's a good lad and I think good things come to lads who are proper lads and I think Crouchy is one of them.

"If that opportunity comes for him and he goes there for six months, fair play to Crouchy."

Conte is reportedly also keen to find a replacement striker for Michy Batshuayi, who is allegedly nearing an exit from the club on loan.
