Bookmakers have made Chelsea the overwhelming favourites to sign Juventus and Italy defender Daniele Rugani this summer.

Chelsea have emerged as favourites to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, according to bookmakers.

Numerous reports from earlier in June suggested that Maurizio Sarri will target a move for the centre-back should the Napoli coach replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Although agent Davide Torchia claimed last week that no clubs had made a move for Rugani, the bookies anticipate that the 23-year-old will be playing at Stamford Bridge next season.

"Chelsea are the runaway 2/9 favourites to complete the signing of Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani for a fee of around £30m," wrote BetStars director of trading Ian Marmion in the Daily Star.

"The 23-year-old already has seven Italy caps to his name and has established himself as a first-team player at the Allianz Stadium, however it now appears he is set to pack his bags for Stamford Bridge as the Blues look to rebuild ahead of the new season.

"Outsiders in the race to sign Rugani include Manchester United (7/1), Paris Saint-Germain (10/1) and Bayern Munich (16/1)."

Last season, Rugani made 26 appearances for the Serie A giants.
