FIFA to scupper Chelsea move for Zidane?

Chelsea have allegedly been dealt a blow in their efforts to appoint Zinedine Zidane as their new manager.

Maurizio Sarri's future at Stamford Bridge remains up in the air - despite impressive showings against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur over the last week - but Zidane continued to be linked with a move to West London.

The former Real Madrid man is said to be keen on a £200m budget if he is appointed as Sarri's replacement, but according to The Sun, FIFA has other ideas.

The report claims that the governing body plans to try to enforce a two transfer-window ban handed to Chelsea, despite the Premier League side intending to appeal the punishment.

The Blues hierarchy are said to believe that an appeal will lead to the club being active in the summer, but FIFA wants to deny Chelsea the opportunity to prepare for a season by making signings.
