Chelsea step up hunt for Cesar Azpilicueta

Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign Marseille right-back Cesar Azpilicueta after completing the £7m capture of England defender Gary Cahill.

The Spanish defender has been rated at £12m, even though he is only third choice at his position for Spain.

Formal talks have opened, but Azpilicueta has cooled transfer talk, saying: "Chelsea need to talk about this with Marseille. At the moment I have a contract until 2014 and I am 100 per cent focused on my club."

Azpilicueta signed for Marseille from his hometown side CA Osasuna in 2010.
