Chelsea are reportedly preparing to offer a new long-term contract to one of their academy graduates who has made an impression in the first team this season.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to offer a new long-term contract to one of their top-performing academy graduates.

The Blues are currently focused on trying to end the season on a high by finishing in the top five of the Premier League table and winning the Conference League.

However, away from on-the-pitch matters, work will be underway with regards to formulating how Enzo Maresca's first-team squad may look for 2025-26.

Andrey Santos and Estevao Willian are due to be integrated into the senior setup, bringing down the average age of the senior ranks even further.

According to Football Insider, club officials wish to back up that double arrival by securing the future of Tyrique George.

Chelsea keen for long-term George stay

As recently as last weekend, George continued to show encouraging signs in the first team with a well-taken strike in the 2-1 comeback victory at West London rivals.

That followed up his recent maiden senior goal against Legia Warsaw in Poland, with the 19-year-old now up to four starts and 10 substitute outings since progressing from the academy setup.

As per former scout Mick Brown, a frequent contributor to the aforementioned outlet, Chelsea are ready to press on with offering the teenager fresh terms.

He said: "When you've got a young player who's come through the side, done well, and shown that sort of promise, you want to get him tied down.

"No matter who they're playing for, there is always interest in young talents. Clubs in the Premier League and in Europe will be looking at him and assessing his availability, we've seen a few young players move to Germany for example.

"If he only has a year or two left on his deal, they'll be making plans to tempt him away. So from what I hear, Chelsea are planning to offer him a new long-term deal.

"They'll sit down with him at the end of the season and see if they can reach an agreement."

A crucial piece of business

Chelsea may be well stocked for attacking talent but ensuring that George remains at Stamford Bridge is one of the key pieces of business this summer.

Although there are over two years left on his current terms, extending that deal would make a statement, like Chelsea did with Josh Acheampong earlier in the season.

While selling homegrown talent brings its benefits with the relevant financial regulations, Chelsea need homegrown players in their squad.

Reece James, Levi Colwill, Acheampong and George could be the only such players next season if Trevoh Chalobah is sold as expected.
