Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte is reportedly considering a surprise approach for Everton midfielder Tom Davies.

Everton midfielder Tom Davies has reportedly emerged as a surprise transfer target for Chelsea.

The Premier League champions have already added Tiemoue Bakayoko to the centre of the park ahead of the new season but with Nathaniel Chalobah having left for Watford and Nemanja Matic also linked with an exit, there may be another space in Chelsea's engine room.

According to The Sun, that could see the Blues turn their attention to Davies, despite the youngster having only recently signed a new deal at Goodison Park.

Davies - who only turned 19 in June - has featured on just 26 occasions in the top flight, but he is highly rated by the Toffees and is expected to feature heavily during the upcoming campaign.

Everton are well stocked for midfielders, which includes summer signing Davy Klaassen, but Davies is a boyhood fan of Everton and is unlikely to contemplate a transfer at this stage of his career.

Davies could feature when Everton begin their Europa League campaign against MFK Ruzomberok on Thursday night.
