Christopher Nkunku leaves Chelsea for Serie A giants ahead of Alejandro Garnacho's arrival at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea confirm Nkunku departure ahead of Garnacho arrival

AC Milan have completed the permanent signing of forward Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea

Nkunku scored 15 goals in 48 competitive appearances last term, but he only started nine of his 27 league matches in Enzo Maresca's first season in charge.

The Frenchman fell further down the pecking order following the attacking additions of Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Estevao and Liam Delap.

As a result, Chelsea have been looking to sell Nkunku before the end of the summer transfer window, especially as they are on the brink of signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

Chelsea confirm Nkunku addition

The Blues have now announced that Nkunku has completed a permanent transfer to Italian giants AC Milan.

As per ESPN, Chelsea have sold Nkunku to Milan for €42m (£36.4m), ensuring that they have recouped a significant amount of the £52m they paid to sign him from RB Leipzig in 2023.

The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract to keep him at Milan until the summer of 2030, with the attacker set to take the number 18 shirt for Massimiliano Allegri's side.

Nknunku will join a number of former Chelsea players at the Italian club in the form of Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori

Nkunku departure paves way for Garnacho arrival

Nkunku's departure is set to facilitate the addition of Garnacho from fellow Premier League side Man United.

The two clubs have reportedly reached an agreement over a deal worth £40m, with Garnacho set to sign a contract until June 2032.

Argentina international Garnacho has been spotted at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea's Premier League clash against Fulham, meaning that it is only a matter of time before he is officially announced as the newest member of Enzo Maresca's squad.

In addition to Nkunku, Chelsea are also set to offload another forward, with Nicolas Jackson closing in on a loan switch to Bayern Munich.
