Nathaniel Chalobah's Bordeaux loan switch blocked by FIFA

Bordeux suffer a setback in their pursuit for Chelsea's Nathaniel Chalobah after FIFA ruled that any move would break transfer regulations.

Chelsea defender Nathaniel Chalobah's proposed loan move to Bordeaux has been called off due to FIFA regulations that deny players from running out for three different clubs in one season.

The 20-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Burnley, while also featuring for the Blues' Under-21s side.

It is thought that Chalobah was keen to link up with Bordeaux for the remainder of the campaign having failed to make an impact during his short spell at Turf Moor, although football's governing body has now put an end to any deal.

An identical ruling yesterday put paid to Ben Arfa's switch from Newcastle United to Nice.
