Barcelona are yet to decide whether to hand experienced defender Dani Alves a contract extension, according to a report.

Barcelona have reportedly not yet decided whether to hand Dani Alves a contract extension.

The 38-year-old secured a return to the Catalan giants in the latter stages of last year and has made seven appearances for the club since being registered at the start of January.

Alves's current deal at Camp Nou is due to expire at the end of June, but it is understood that Barcelona have the option to activate a one-year extension in order to keep him until June 2023.

Barcelona boss Xavi recently said that he was keen for the Brazilian to remain at the club beyond the end of the season, hailing the veteran's impact on the squad since his return.

However, according to AS, the Catalan outfit are yet to decide whether to keep hold of the South American for the 2022-23 campaign.

The report claims that Alves could be allowed to leave if either Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta or Ajax's Noussair Mazraoui move to Camp Nou on a free transfer this summer.

Barcelona have allegedly already made an opening approach for Mazraoui, with the club determined to beat AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund to the signature of the Morocco international.
