Barcelona are reportedly working behind the scenes on summer signings, with the club preparing to back head coach Xavi.

Barcelona are reportedly working behind the scenes on summer signings, with the Catalan club 'more than happy' with Xavi's work since arriving as head coach in November.

The La Liga giants are expected to active in the upcoming market despite their financial problems, with Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland said to be a leading target.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona chiefs are delighted with Xavi's work since arriving, and the club are prepared to back him ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

Romano claims that the Catalan side are pushing to sign Cesar Azpilicueta on a free transfer from Chelsea, with the Spaniard offered a two-year contract plus an extra season.

Barcelona are not in a La Liga title race this season, sitting 15 points behind league leaders Real Madrid, but they are now fourth in the table ahead of Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, LA Blaugrana booked their spot in the next round of the Europa League on Thursday evening courtesy of a 4-2 victory at Napoli, which saw them win the playoff tie 5-3 on aggregate.
