Brendan Rodgers in contention for Chelsea job?

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has emerged as a surprise rumoured candidate for the Chelsea manager's job as the odds on him replacing Maurizio Sarri have been slashed.

The Northern Irishman has spent time managing in the Premier League with Swansea City and Liverpool, coming close to lifting the title with the latter in 2014.

Rodgers departed Anfield the following season and has since earned a clean sweep of silverware during his three years at Celtic.

Having previously spent time working at Chelsea as part of their youth-team staff, the 46-year-old may now be heading back to West London.

The odds on Rodgers replacing under-fire Sarri have been cut to 10/1 overnight, making him the fifth favourite for the job.

Zinedine Zidane, who has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season, is the favourite, while Gianfranco Zola, Frank Lampard and Guus Hiddink are also said to be in strong contention.
