Chelsea put six past 10-man Arsenal

Chelsea thrash Arsenal

Chelsea have thrashed 10-man Arsenal 6-0 at Stamford Bridge to move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.

The Blues were ahead after five minutes when Samuel Eto'o curled a shot into the bottom corner from just inside the box.

With the Gunners still reeling, Andre Schurrle drilled the ball into the bottom corner to double the home side's advantage.

It got worse for Arsenal after 15 minutes when Kieran Gibbs was sent off for a handball offence inside the box.

However, replays showed that it was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who had made contact with the ball. Nonetheless, Eden Hazard stepped up to make it three from the penalty spot.

David Luiz saw his powerful effort from distance kept out by Wojciech Szczesny, but it was four when Oscar converted a Fernando Torres cross from close range.

Chelsea started the second half on the front foot, as Luiz smashed the ball straight at Szczesny from close range.

Santi Cazorla fired wide for the Gunners as the away side looked for a way back in the game.

However, the hosts soon had their fifth of the afternoon. Oscar's low shot bobbled over the arm of Szczesny and found the net.

It soon got worse for the Gunners as substitute Mohamed Salah chased down down a ball from Cesar Azpilicueta and finished past Szczesny.
