Chelsea release statement on John Terry's acquittal

Chelsea want Terry to "focus" on football

Chelsea are hopeful that their club captain John Terry will be able to completely "focus" on preparation for the new season after being cleared of a racially-aggravated public order.

The 31-year-old was cleared of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

In a statement, the club said: "Chelsea Football Club notes and respects Chief Magistrate Howard Riddle's decision to clear John Terry of the charge against him. We are pleased that John can now focus on football and his pre-season preparations with the team."

The trial lasted five days at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
