Chelsea vs. Nottingham Forest: Jadon Sancho attempting to match all-time record

Which record can Chelsea winger Sancho match against Forest?

Chelsea winger Jadon Sancho will be attempting to match an all-time record during Sunday's Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest.

During the closing hours of the summer transfer window, Sancho made the switch from Manchester United to Stamford Bridge, initially on a season-long loan deal.

The hope was that the 24-year-old could rediscover his best form after failing to make a positive impact during his three-year stint with the Red Devils.

That was despite Enzo Maresca having a wide array of wide players at his disposal, Sancho seemingly facing a battle to earn a spot in the starting lineup.

Instead, the England international is already regarded as a first-choice pick by the Italian, who has stated on several occasions that he feels that Sancho possesses the qualities to excel playing his style of football.

What record can Sancho match?

Having played no part of Thursday's Conference League triumph over Gent, the expectation is that Sancho will line up on the left-hand side of midfield against Forest on Sunday afternoon.

Should that prove to be the case, Sancho will be attempting to record his fourth assist in his first four games for a new club, something that would equal a feat only ever registered by two other players since records began.

Chris Waddle achieved that feat soon after joining Sunderland in 1997, while Cesc Fabregas did the same when linking up with Chelsea in 2014.

Sancho made an instant impact for the West Londoners during the second half against Bournemouth, the substitute playing in Christopher Nkunku for his decisive goal.

A week later, it was the quick thinking of Sancho that set Nicolas Jackson away to score the first of his two goals in a 3-0 triumph at West Ham United.

He then concluded the month with the delicate through-ball for Cole Palmer to score his fourth and final goal against Brighton & Hove Albion on September 28.

Palmer bidding to extend league-best run

As a result of his goal glut versus the Seagulls, Palmer now has a Premier League-high of 43 goal contributions (28 strikes, 15 assists) since the start of last season.

The playmaker is also averaging a goal or assist every 73 minutes in the top flight for Chelsea, the best rate in the club's history.

From Forest's perspective, however, they will be attempting to record back-to-back league wins at Chelsea for the first time in 116 years having prevailed 1-0 win in the corresponding game 13 months ago.
