Thierry Henry, John Terry 'to link up at Aston Villa'

Former Aston Villa defender John Terry is reportedly close to returning to the club as part of the backroom coaching setup under Thierry Henry.

John Terry could link up with Thierry Henry at Aston Villa after announcing his retirement from playing, according to a report.

The Chelsea legend confirmed on Sunday evening that he will now focus on a coaching career, having failed to find a club since leaving Villa Park at the end of last season.

Terry appears to be close to a return to the West Midlands outfit, as The Sun suggests that he is being lined up in an assistant manager capacity.

Belgium coach Henry is the strong favourite to succeed Steve Bruce, who was sacked earlier this week, and the 41-year-old supposedly wants Terry as his number two.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and Jose Mourinho's former assistant Rui Faria are also understood to be in the frame.
